In "Influenza A H1N1 measures for 1st WCC in Gyeongnam", your Super Moderator told us that WCC can take place without worrying about the influenza.

Well... it took place... and then over within 3 days...

However, My country's news agency has reported this news few hours ago. It tells that 14 Indonesian competitors were infected the flu virus and It's the highest number of new cases per day in South Korea, 34 Indonesian Singers have also got a cold, so WCC sends all competitors back to their countries.

But I still want an organizers' answer.

Organizers' answer

Sorry for keep you waiting for so long.

But even we as the organizers don't get that much information from the goverment.

There are 13 indonesian people infected with influenzia H1N1. We don't have the result for two more indonesians yet.
But these 13 (15) infected people are in the Medical Center in Masan in quarantine. According to the circumstances
they are doing well. There isn't a more difficult evidence, so it is to estimate that these singers can go home
in 4-7 days.

All choirs who were living with these infected people together in the same hotel are in quarantine, too,
but they get food and doctors care for them. They all have to stay in quarantine approximately until the 17th of July.
If non of them will be infected in the next days too, they are allowed to leave the country.

We and the representatives from the indonesian embassy are in a constantly contact with all the people in the quarantine.

For now we are not able to give any information about back-payments. It's the first time in the long
INTERKULTUR event history (over 90 events) that we had to cancel a competition.

We ask all affected people to have patience.

Thank you for your cooperation! We will give more information as soon as possible.

Forther Forecast

Dear Organizers,

We parents and supporters simply need to understand - what next? Our girls had plans to stay at this Competition by 17, July, and later they had plans to get additional sightseeing in Korea, thus leaving to Europe only on 22, July. For the moment, we do not speak about the possible compensation of this cancellation and the rest because we only want to know - what next? Do organizers (anybody else) take special care about participants or the hotel accomodation is all you can?

Your prompt answer is more than welcome.

Right now we are living from one day to the next. We still didn't get any information from the goverment (it was promised
for the 11th of July). We are arguing every single day for even natural things like food for the choirs in quarantine.
Because the event was canceled our korean partners don't feel responsible for the choirs anymore. They canceled all the
buses to daytrips or the drive to the catering center. We have to fight for every meal for every choir over and over again.

That's why we also do not know what's next yet. We try to get them all out of the quarantine and bring them home safe.
We're staying in Korea until every singer is home again.

If they have any problems they can contact us. We're doing our best to help as good as possible.
For special or individual cases please send me a private message. I'll try to pass it to the right department.

Dear Organizers,

We of course thank you so much for your efforts and job. However, your answer of '...we have to fight for every meal for every choir over and over again...' indicates that this event was planned in North not South Korea - am I right? :?:

For the time being, we wish you all the best in your complicated life, especially nowadays. We also wait for the OFFICIAL INFORMATION that should come from the GOVERNMENT! :!:

Thanks!

You are right!!!!

But finally, today things are getting better for the Indonesian choirs in quarantine. Yesterday they moved to new more comfortable buidings. They have at least 1 common TV room. They get there food of proper amount and quality. The Red Cross will be present. Yesterday Korean media were strongly pointing on the provincial government to be responsible for the given situation.

The choirs mental situation is getting better.

Inside the quarantine building they created a new choir: the "Swine Singers". This shows that even some humor is coming back in their daily life. The situation we are facing today is acceptable but some days too late! The provincial government has miserable failured.

Also the choir Manado State University should be on the way to the airport. I will report when we get news like 'they are sitting safely in the plane'.

Again, and the most important thing! What is the official position of the GOVERNMENT? It is next to impossible to believe that they keep silence!..

Tuesday, July 14th 2009, 5:49pm

what's wrong with the Korean Government? Do they speak or understand english???:D They should have given out their official press release!!

Koreans do your part!!! X(
